Finished casts produced from Hygia Cast Plus are lightweight, strong, radiolucent, and porous.

Product Feature
* All strength, rigidity and durability
* Superior lamination
* Excellent conformability
* Improved finish for smoother and softer edges
* Less dust

Application
1. Slip one or two layers of stockinet over the affected body part. Additional padding may be used for greater protection of pressure points and bony prominences.
2. Gloves must be worn while wrapping the cast since the resin in the tape will transfer and adhere to the skin.
3. Select the desired width of Hygia Cast Plus. Open only one roll at a time, since room temperature may initiate hardening.
4. Immerse the roll in room temperature water, around 24~26 Celsius. Three firm squeeze of the roll while immersed will give a set time of approximately 3 and a half minutes. To lengthen the set time, immerse the roll and remove it immediately without squeezing. This will give you a set time of around 4 and a half minutes. Warmer water shortens the set time while cooler water lengthens it.
5. Wrap spirally, taking care to avoid excessive tightness. To ensure snug fit, wrap with slight tension on the tape rather than the rolling application common to plaster.
6. Just three or four layers provide a strong nonweight-bearing cast and five to eight layers are typically adequate for weight-bearing cast. Additional layers are generally nor necessary for strength and will reduce porosity.
7. Smooth and rub the surface to achieve good contact between layers. About 4~5 minutes after immersion in the water, Hygia Cast Plus is sufficiently cured to prevent further molding.
8. Allow 20~30 minutes before applying loads to weight-bearing casts.

Cast removal: Hygia Cast Plus may be windowed, trimmed or removed with traditional cast saw equipment. Although most standard saw blades are suitable for use on Hygia Cast Plus, cutting of these strong, durable casts will be facilitated with the specially designed heat treated steel blades available. Always be sure the blade is sharp. A blade that is not sharp will result in heat build-up and possible patient injury.
